History

The staff of O’Brien Forensic Accounting has developed a reputation within Oklahoma’s legal community as a firm that can be counted on to provide sound ethical forensic accounting litigation support.  As the founder of O’Brien Forensic Accounting, Michael P. O’Brien, CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA, has had but one career path, and that is providing a wide range of forensic accounting and traditional services to his clients.
 
Specializing as a forensic accountant since 1985, Michael has been involved in a wide range of both civil and criminal legal matters ranging from partnership/shareholder dispute and family law divorce accounting to multi-million-dollar criminal embezzlement investigations involving close coordination with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office.  Over the past 37 years,  Michael and his team have established successful relationships with many law firms and businesses throughout Oklahoma.  These relationships are a testament to the singular dedication and integrity of their work, as well as their reputation for excellence.

MICHAEL P. O'Brien

What sets me apart from other forensic accountants and investigators is my ability to teach an attorney, judge or jury about the facts and figures involved in a complex accounting case in a way that allows them to come to an informed decision concerning the facts of the case at hand. Forensic and Valuation Professional Experience


Forensic Accounting Engagements Include:

  • Lead investigator that uncovered and quantified a multi-million dollar embezzlement scheme involving multiple employees of a non-profit organization. This case involved working closely with and providing a detailed report of findings to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office which led to the recovery of millions of dollars and the arrest and/or incarceration of the main perpetrators

  • Lead investigator of embezzlement by Guardian ad Litem resulting in court ordered restitution in excess of $175k

  • Lead investigator in an embezzlement scheme involving a large property owners association, resulting in recovery of funds

  • Identification of fraudulent conveyances

  • Quantification of economic loss calculations for property and casualty insurance underwriters

  • Preparation of economic impact studies for municipal utility and rural water districts
